From Sketch to a Suit

When Robert Rivani came to Bespoke By CB, he did not want just another tuxedo. He wanted something that reflected his aesthetic: bold, refined, and unmistakably his own. The result was a custom sage green tuxedo with a quilted velvet shawl lapel that went from concept sketch to finished garment in our Miami studio.

The Client

Robert Rivani is a Miami-based entrepreneur and real estate developer known for transforming overlooked properties into cultural landmarks. His portfolio spans hospitality, entertainment, and commercial real estate across the country. He approaches every project with a curatorial eye, and his wardrobe is no different. He came to us looking for a formal piece that would stand out without being loud.

The Concept

The starting point was a hand-drawn design sketch. Robert wanted a tuxedo in sage green with a quilted velvet shawl lapel, gold piping details, and a silhouette that was slim and modern. The sketch laid out the full vision: front and back views, fabric texture, lapel construction, and the overall proportion of the jacket to the trouser.

The Fabric

We sourced a sage green wool with a subtle texture that catches light without shining. The shawl lapel was cut from a matching moss-green velvet, quilted for depth and dimension. Gold piping runs along the lapel edge and the jacket hem, adding a quiet detail that reads up close but disappears from across the room. The trousers were cut from the same fabric, tapered and cropped to pair with loafers.

The Fit

Robert is slim and tall, so we cut the jacket with a nipped waist and a slightly shortened body to emphasize his frame. The shawl lapel sits wide and flat, drawing the eye to the chest. The trousers are fitted through the thigh and tapered to the ankle. The overall silhouette is sharp but not aggressive.

The Details

The details are what make this tuxedo personal. A matching sage pocket square. Cuffs turned back to reveal the velvet lining. Black velvet loafers with crystal buckle hardware. Gold bracelets and a watch that complement the gold piping without competing with it. Every element was considered during the design process.

From Sketch to Reality

The finished tuxedo matches the original sketch almost exactly. The same sage green, the same quilted velvet lapel, the same gold piping. The only change was the footwear: the sketch called for brown monk straps, but Robert chose black velvet loafers with crystal buckles for the final look. That is the beauty of bespoke: the sketch is a guide, not a rule. The client makes the final call.
